SUMMARY:

Is accountable for originating and servicing commercial and industrial loans, including but not limited to commercial real estate loans, small business loans, and agricultural loans. This position is responsible for promoting and selling loan and deposit products offered by the bank and actively develop relationships with business customers who meet our company's credit standards. Ability to network and educate area advisors and professionals with the goal of increasing our commercial loan volume through referrals. Be able to service their loan portfolio, including renewals. Originate, assist credit analyst with underwriting, and close commercial loans in accordance with established lending objectives, policies, and procedures. Establish and maintain positive relationships with existing and potential clients by performing the following duties. This position will office out of our Adel Branch.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by management.

  1. Create and maintain an exceptional sales and service culture which includes establishing and participating in bank sales initiatives, measuring customer service standards, and reporting progress.
  1. Interview applicants and request specified information for loan applications. Review borrower's operation size and scope. Evaluate operation decision makers and individuals involved. Gather obligor financial documents, and other information pertinent for proper evaluation of the loan application.
  1. Compile loan packages and facilitate negotiations with applicants according to established standards, such as: fees, loan repayment options, and other credit terms. Refer loans through appropriate chains for approval and ensure loan agreements are complete and accurate according to policy. Assure timely loan closing and funding activities.
  1. Assess the creditworthiness of loan applicants, judging their suitability as borrowers as well as the precise terms (interest rate, repayment schedule, etc.) on which credit may be granted to them.
  1. Work with assigned credit analysts in analyzing the applicant's financial/ credit status along with a collateral evaluation to determine the feasibility of granting loan. Correspond with the applicant to resolve questions regarding application information.
     
  2. Provide oversight and ensure that all loan documents are properly prepared, loan files are kept current and relative, and appropriate information is forwarded to Chief Lending Officer and/or Chief Credit Officer.
  1. Maintain satisfactory credit standards by achieving assigned credit quality ratios in Past Due loans, Non-accruals, Charge-offs, adversely Classified credits, Loan Loss Reserves, and Technical Exceptions.
     
  2. Help lead the development and deployment of product/services with the goal of positioning our Bank competitively and provide for customer demands. Call on and market commercial loans to existing and potential clients and cross sell other bank products including but not limited to Cash Management.
  1. Responsible for growth of loan portfolio, and generation of loan related fee income.
     
  2. Complies with regulatory rules and regulations, evidenced through successful completion of training and demonstrated ability. Topics include but are not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti Money Laundering, Ethics, Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), etc.
  1. Reflects a positive image for the Bank by always exuding professional demeanor and contributing to community involvement. Establish and maintain positive networking relationships with businesses and agricultural organizations, along with promoting the bank's favorable image.
     
  2. Keep abreast of current industry trends, regulatory issues and overall economic environment. Integrate knowledge into strategic and operational business planning. Successfully complete all assigned training.
  1. Participate in loan and sales meetings as required.
  1. Perform other duties as directed by Management. 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) in Finance or business-related field required; or Five to Ten years of banking experience or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of SBA, USDA, and other Governmental Lending Programs preferred. Management experience required.

Computer and data processing literacy required, including adept experience with Microsoft Office programs, and other lending origination and analysis software’s. Knowledge of Bank regulation and compliance is required.

Mathematical, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills required.  Must be highly motivated with good communication skills, autonomous, and capable executing tactical plans in line with strategic objectives.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, interpret and implement regulations and laws, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, policy and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and/or problems and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid driver’s license required for travel to Bank offices, training sessions, customer meetings, Bank and community meetings, etc.  Ability to speak a foreign language helpful but not required.

NMLS license required.

Must be willing to office out of the Adel, IA Branch Office locations.  Must be willing to work in excess of 40 hours per week and on some weekends as required. Travel will be required for this. Position may require the ability to work before or after normal business hours, including weekends and overnight travel, to meet required deadlines and to attend meetings and/or training programs.
